A Walk in the Woods

It was too nice to stay
inside today.

We (Daddy, Papa, and myself) loaded up and headed deep
into the woods.

The trail was untamed.
The wildlife was eyeballing us like trained
predators eye their prey.

It was quite
frightening even if they were just common
ground squirrels and occasional robins.

There were times when we felt so entrapped by the

ferocious miniature beasts that we had retreated to the saftey of the trees.

Finally by sheer wit we escaped the blood-thirsty grasp of the Midwestern Sabertoothed-Squirrels.

As it was we even had the good fortune of coming across some wild trail mix with M&M's growing near this lake.

The ride home was a good time to examine what we all stepped in.
